A probiotic candy for your teeth? Most reviews cover the probiotics. Hardly any ask what a chewable "candy" format means, especially if you watch your sugar. You can see the official page here.
What the company says about the format
The company calls ProDentim a "dissolvable candy" containing probiotics (official page). The company says each one has 3.5 billion probiotics. The strains it lists are Lactobacillus paracasei, B. lactis BL-04 and Lactobacillus reuteri.
What the label lists for sweeteners
The ProDentim label entered in the NIH Dietary Supplement Label Database on 2023-07-18 (DSLD #298948) lists these "other ingredients":
Tricalcium Phosphate, Peppermint, Strawberry Flavor, Natural, Blue Agave, Stearic Acid, Mannitol, Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide, Sucralose, Microcrystalline Cellulose
The sweetening ingredients there are blue agave (a plant-derived sweetener), mannitol (a sugar alcohol) and sucralose (a non-nutritive sweetener).
What the label record doesn't show is the number of grams of sugar or carbohydrate per tablet. We won't guess. The company's current page also mentions inulin and malic acid, which aren't on the 2023 record, so the formula or label may have changed. Read the Supplement Facts on the bottle you actually receive.
Who should check the label and ask first
Talk to your dentist or doctor before trying it if you:
- have diabetes or follow a sugar- or carb-restricted diet. Ask whether agave and sugar alcohols fit your plan.
- are sensitive to sugar alcohols like mannitol. Ask whether they're a concern for you.
- have allergies, or are pregnant, nursing, on medication or managing a condition. The 2023 label itself advises consulting your provider in these cases.
Questions to bring to that appointment:
- Is a chewable that contains sweeteners a reasonable choice for my teeth?
- Does it fit my diet or my medications?
- When in my routine should I take it?

Cost over time: one-time vs. multi-bottle
Each bottle holds 30 tablets, about a month's supply at one a day. The official page sells 1-, 3- and 6-bottle packages, and the bigger packages come with bonuses. We couldn't read the prices, so check the official page for:
- the price per bottle in each package
- whether any order is a recurring subscription
- the refund terms. The company's refund policy says you have 60 days from delivery, you return all bottles, and return shipping isn't covered.
If it fits your situation, see ProDentim on the official site.
